The client for this apartment wanted a large room fitted out to provide simple hotel-style accommodation for use when visiting the UK. The room was in use for storage, and the pile of discarded boxes for the recording studio equipment became the inspiration for the concept.
Conceived as a composition of wooden boxes, the facilities are contained in and around a central piece of large furniture. A bed deck with floating wardrobe is accessed via a wooden staircase, with shower room, coffee machine, fridge, and entertainment centre tucked underneath.
In order to achieve the impression of boxes piled up, a range of veneers were selected – walnut, sycamore, cherry and oak.
