Church Lane Housing
- Location: Manchester
- Programme: 2005 - 2006
- Client: Midway International
- Contract Value: £2.5 million
Church Lane comprises terraced housing with areas of redevelopment from the post-war period up to the present day. The apartment building is in a single block with its main entrance accessible from a private courtyard off the main road.
By widening and narrowing, the form of the building helps define two ‘pockets’ of space within the site – the hard paved courtyard parking area, and the garden amenity space at the south end of the site. The building has a red brick ‘shell’ wrapping round the north, east and south elevations. The west elevation facing the private courtyard is clad in natural timber boarding with the third floor identified as a roof storey by the use of slate grey zinc cladding.
