Upper Room Project
- Location: Cheadle
- Programme: 2004 - 2008
- Client: St Mary's Church Trust, Cheadle
- Contract Value: £1.2 million
St Mary’s Church in Cheadle have a group of community spaces, known as “The Upper Room”, located over a supermarket unit in the town centre. As the owners of the freehold, they wanted to review options for re-configuring the building to make it more visible and accessible to the community at large, many of whom used the large car park behind the high street. The proposals involved re-orientating the building towards the car park, and adding an open glazed space that would act as a lobby to all the spaces inside. The building’s appearance will use sandstone elements combined with laminate cladding to introduce a distinctive, contemporary addition to the town.
